Shopping green is looking good : Myco Anna to open Montreal boutique - april 2008 |
Christiane Garant, president of Maison de Couture Myco Anna, is proud to announce the opening of the ethical fashion label’s first Montreal boutique on July 1, 2008. The new shopping venue will feature the same dazzling womenswear collections sold in the company’s highly successful Quebec City location, as well as a wide selection of original or exclusive jewellery and accessories by local and world designers. Spanning more than 2,000 square feet and with a totally Plateau Mont-Royal vibe, the new Myco Anna boutique is located at 4660 Saint Laurent Blvd. in the very trendy Mile End district.
“We believe that as a Canadian leader in ethical fashion it was a natural move to create a presence in Montreal, one of North America’s major fashion cities,” says Christiane Garant, Myco Anna’s president and head designer. Beyond providing a prime shopping destination for clothing and accessories, the Montreal boutique will also serve as offices and a showroom open to stylists and buyers. Consumers can take advantage of the custom alteration services available on site, as in the Quebec City boutique.
For more than 12 years, Montrealers have been captivated by Myco Anna creations, eagerly seeking them at specialty boutiques such as Scandale, Aime Com Moi and Madras. It will still be possible to shop for the label at a growing number of independent outlets
(full list at www.mycoanna.com).
And with the new Myco Anna boutique the Quebec City company now has a dedicated space in which loyal fans can experience the unique world of this ethical label. In addition to viewing the full regular collections, women will be able to commission custom pieces, each 100 percent unique, created especially for those succumbing to ever-increasing Myco Anna mania!
Actors Marie Turgeon, Isabelle Blais, and Sophie Lorain, as well as singers Laurence Jalbert and Jorane are among the young hip Quebecoise celebrities who proudly wear the label.
The striking St. Laurent Blvd. location, with its soaring ceilings and sweeping floor space, is open to receive an even greater number of devotees for special events such as the launch of a new collection. |

Myco Ana presents its 2008 Fall-Winter
collection “Guerrière” - march 2008

GUERRIÈRE
For the 2008 fall-winter season Myco Anna presents Guerrière (Warlike), a collection that pays tribute to women everywhere fighting for peace, justice and environmental awareness. The designers have created a timeless portrait of this warrior, interweaving historical references with the contemporary trends. This is a world where the Flourishing Cavalier dress is set off by a bolero called Noblesse, an Armour jacket consorts with a Conspiracy skirt, and the Humanité tunic suggests the equitable distribution of wealth.
The collection
Woolen materials are used throughout, both as a base and in recycled fabric inserts. Bold and straightforward lines symbolize the strength of the woman warrior who wears Myco Anna for fall-winter 2008.
Originality and uniqueness are hallmarks of this Quebec label, here evident in the imaginative use of asymmetrical cuts. Fitted bodices delicately delineate the silhouette. A sense of volume is conveyed through innovative collar styles, trumpet sleeves, and flared skirts ornamented with pockets or flounces.
The color palette remains restrained, providing a backdrop for the subtleties of the patchwork, a Myco Anna signature. Basic tones such as black, brown, indigo as well as many shades of gray coordinate beautifully. Colorful accents are integrated throughout the collection in recycled inserts and appliqués. |

100% Organic, 100% Ethical,
a new line for Myco Anna - février 2008

IMPRESSIONS by MYCO ANNA
Myco Anna has joined forces with Quebec City design firm W2 to create a new brand: Impression by Myco Anna. Each creative partner brings a special expertise and perspective. The result: a unique line of original eco tops for men and women.
A Promising Partnership
Myco Anna brings design talent and development expertise in employing eco-friendly materials. W2 adds innovative experience in graphic design and garment printing processes. Impression by Myco Anna is the result of this alliance, which seeks to promote the use of organic materials and ethical production in Quebec.
The Impressions line, made of organic cotton, will launch with three styles for women and two for men.
The use of ecological fabrics is essential to the project. Both partners are resolutely convinced of the fashion potential of eco-friendly fibres. Future collections may include those made of hemp, soy or other organic substances.
“We think that we can effectively penetrate the market with a product that’s both trendy and ecological, and is well-positioned in terms of price-quality ratio,” says Christiane Garant, head designer and owner of Myco Anna. “And through both the cuts and graphic techniques used, with Impressions we offer something unique that stands out from what is currently offered in ethical wear.” |
About W2
Michel Leblanc and Claude De Repentigny pooled their experience in the field of graphic design and unique expertise in textile printing techniques to found W2 in 2001. Always on the lookout for trends and new directions in both graphic design and fashion, W2 produces original and/or custom imprinted clothing. Today, with a solid and a highly talented team of graphic designers, W2 pushes the limits of creation and constantly innovates.
In 2008 the company’s client list continues to expand, and includes organizations such as Cirque du Soleil, Énergie Cardio, and the Montreal International Jazz Festival. It also created the t-shirt collection celebrating Quebec City’s 400th anniversary sold in Sears stores throughout the province.
W2 conducts close to 80% of its production locally. To survive at all in the Canadian textile market is a feat; to do so while also producing within the country is exceptional. In 2007, W2 was selected Micro-Enterprise of the Year for the National Capital and Chaudière- Appalaches regions at the Quebec City META Network award ceremony, held in collaboration with the Quebec City Entrepreneur Chamber of Commerce.
